Baby Eagan - NICU Day 33 - Mother's Day

Eagan is still in critical condition, but today was better for him. He was more active even though he has limited range of motion due to all the swelling. He is still having major drops in his blood pressure and trouble regulating his heart rate. The surgeon looked at his ostomies, drains and incision and everything looks perfect. Please pray that little Eags is on the road to recovery. This little boy (and his mommy) need a break.

Eagan's nurse made me a sweet Mother's day card. I can't get over those sweet tiny footprints.

Here is a run-down of his current status:

Weight
Eagan is not currently being weighed. To weigh him, the nurse has to barely lift him off the bed, push a button, and lay him back in the bed. Eagan is too unstable for this right now.

Length
14" at last measurement

Breathing
Eagan is now on the conventional ventilator. His settings are currently at 34 breaths per minute.

Vitals
Eagan's blood pressure is extremely low.

Vein and Artery Access
The arterial line is still in his head.

Eagan has an IV in his left arm now.

A CVL, central venous line, was placed during surgery.

His PICC line is in a position that is can be used like an IV for medication.

Medications
Sodium bicarbonate is being given for acidic ph levels.

Hydrocortisone has been started to help with blood pressure and stress response.

Eagan is on Dopamine and Epinephrine for low blood pressure, Vancomycin and Meropenum - both antibiotics, Amphotericin for the yeast infection in his blood, and Synthroid for low thyroid levels.

Nutrition
Eagan's only sources of nutrition right now are his TPN fluids and lipids.

Output

Eagan has a foley catheter in place. This was put in right before surgery. His urine output is not good, but once his blood pressure is consistently better, his urine output should increase also. He is now on fluid restriction because the swelling is so bad.

Transfusions

Eagan had transfusion #18 of blood today.

Thank you for all your love, support and prayers.
